Key Dates for this Summer in East Nashville

  • Monday, June 25th: School Board District 5 candidate forum, 6:30pm, Rosebank Elementary School.
  • Friday, June 29th, East Nashville Community Clean Up, 9am to 4pm.  Meet at Green Wagon for a clean up of 5 Points, Main Street, East Nashville Cooperative Ministries gardens, and maybe Shelby St medians too if enough people show up.  Free slice of pizza at lunch for volunteers (Thanks 5 Points Pizza)!
  • Wednesday, July 4th, Hot Chicken Festival at East Park 11-3, and parade (!) on Woodland in the morning, between 5th and 7th.  More at: www.musiccityjuly4th.com
  • Monday, July 11th, Meeting about proposed Bus Rapid Transit connector from west side to 5 points, 5:30pm, East Park Community Center
  • July 13th through July 28th, Early Voting for School Board and other local elections/primaries.  Vote at special early voting sites such as the Howard building near downtown: www.nashville.gov/vote
  • Monday, July 16th: Shelby Hills Neighborhood Association meeting at 6:30pm, Shelby Community Center.  Update from Promise Neighborhood household survey and also hearing from more School Board candidates.
  • Wednesday, August 1st: first day of school for Metro
  • Thursday, August 2nd: election day for School Board, local judicial, some primary elections, go to normal voting precinct
  • Saturday, August 7th – Night Out Against Crime in Cleveland Park neighborhood
  • Saturday, August 11th – Tomato Art Festival at 5 Points.  TDOT says it is “looking very good” that the summer bridge closures will not be in effect for that weekend.
